GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - A Green Bay man has been ordered to stand trial in the fatal shooting of an acquaintance last year.
Twenty-eight-year-old Antwon Powell is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the Dec. 3 death of David Shorter.
WLUK-TV (https://bit.ly/1T4SwGT ) reports Powell was ordered to stand trial after an investigator testified at the preliminary hearing Wednesday. Arraignment is scheduled for June 17.
Prosecutors say Powell had accused the 32-year-old victim of breaking into his house and stealing money and marijuana earlier that day.
A criminal complaint says the two argued by phone throughout the day until that night when Powell went to Shorter’s house and shot him as he stepped outside for a cigarette.
Powell remains in jail. A telephone message left for his attorney for comment was not immediately returned Wednesday.
