HALTOM CITY, Texas (AP) - Police have issued an arrest warrant for a North Texas woman, charging her with injury to a child by omission in the fatal scalding of her 2-year-old grandson.

Police say they’re looking for 43-year-old Patricia Flores of Haltom City, a Fort Worth suburb. Haltom City police say her grandson Lyfe Flores received no medical attention for six days after he was scalded March 24 by hot bath water. Haltom City police Detective Matt Spillane says the lack of medical treatment led to an infection that led to his death.

The boy died at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas on April 4. Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales says the child’s 5-month-old sister has been placed in foster care.
