SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Apple CEO Tim Cook will appear in Utah this fall to speak at the Utah Technology Council’s Hall of Fame event.

Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch announced Wednesday that the business leader had accepted his invitation to give the keynote address on Sept. 30.

The black-tie event is a fundraiser for the Utah Technology Council, a professional association for high-tech companies.

Past speakers have included Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Eric Schmidt of Google.

Hatch says that Cook and Apple are in the center of the biggest technology issues of the day, including user privacy, encryption and intellectual property rights protections.
