PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s unemployment rate is down slightly following a March gain in jobs above the post-recession average.

The state Department of Administration reports that Arizona’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in March, down from 5.5 percent in February.

The state’s economy added 12,200 nonfarm jobs in March, which was above the post-recession average of 11,800 jobs.

Eight of the 11 economic sectors added jobs, led by the leisure and hospitality sector’s increase of 7,300 jobs.

The sector losing the most jobs was professional and business services, which shed 1,400 jobs in March.
