HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Bells will toll in Virginia this weekend to mark the ninth anniversary of the shooting at Virginia Tech.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe has declared April 16 as “Virginia Tech Remembrance Day.” A student killed 32 people at the school on that day in 2007 before killing himself.

McAuliffe says that at 9:43 a.m., the bell at the Capital Square Bell Tower will ring 32 times for each of the victims before a moment of silence. The state flag will be flown at half-staff on all local, state and federal buildings in the state.

There will also be a blood drive in remembrance of the victims from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the Virginia Tech Richmond Center.
