TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A 21-mile stretch of westbound Interstate 10 east of Tucson will be closed next Wednesday night and early the next morning due to a bridge replacement project that will require travelers to take a 67-mile detour.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says westbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 90 west of Benson and State Route 83 east of Tucson from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, April 21.

The closure is the third and final one planned for replacement of an I-10 bridge over Davidson Canyon and repaving in the area.

The department says westbound drivers face up to two additional hours of travel time and that they should consider avoiding traveling that stretch of I-10 during the closure.

Eastbound traffic on I-10 won’t be affected.
