LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - School buses in Las Cruces are operating normally with a tentative agreement between the bus company and the drivers’ union averting the possibility of a strike.

The school system says the tentative agreement reached late Wednesday between STS of New Mexico and Local 6341 of the Las Cruces Transportation Federation awaits formal approval by both sides.

The school system says buses will run on their normal schedules in the meantime.

A strike had been a possibility since the last contract expired at the end of March.
