GREENVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials in west Georgia say they’ve captured one of two inmates they say escaped from a county jail.

The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office said 29-year-old Travion Terrell Hall was apprehended Wednesday evening at the Garden Inn & Suites Hogansville, where he had been staying in a room.

Authorities said the U.S. Marshals Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force helped capture Hall.

Authorities say Hall and 34-year-old Eugene Lamar Mitchell broke out of the Meriwether County Jail Tuesday night.

Hall was being held on a probation violation, and sheriff’s officials say he will face new charges related to the escape.

Mitchell was being held on several charges, including child molestation, sexual battery and burglary.

The county is about 50 miles southwest of Atlanta, just east of LaGrange.
