WETUMPKA, Ala. (AP) - A Millbrook man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing his mother.
News outlets report that 29-year-old Sedric Clayton was sentenced in Elmore County Circuit Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty last month to the August 2014 shooting death of 49-year-old Anita Washington.
Authorities say Washington’s body was found in a wooded area in Millbrook, wrapped in a sheet. Clayton was charged based on forensic evidence that was found at Washington’s house. The Montgomery Advertiser (https://on.mgmadv.com/20Dx3rH ) reports prosecutors never established a motive for the slaying.
Washington’s ex-husband is also serving a 20-year prison sentence for shooting her in a school parking lot in 2008.
