NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Metro Nashville Police have announced they are implementing changes in an East Nashville public housing development after two officers were attacked there.

Police Chief Steve Anderson announced Wednesday that the officers were attacked in a less than 24-hour period at the Cayce Homes - Officer Josh Hausman on Monday while trying to break up a fight, and Officer Matthew Cammarn on Tuesday when attempting to arrest a man. Both were hospitalized.

Anderson says Hausman and Cammarn are “going to be OK.”

The department installed mobile camera systems in the area, with one where the officers were assaulted.

Anderson says extra officers will be assigned to the Cayce neighborhood for the next several days. Officers will no longer patrol the area alone, but will go out in pairs.

The area will also be monitored periodically by a helicopter.
