ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve charged 13 people who were involved in a major Philadelphia-based heroin-trafficking ring that sold the drugs in western New York.

The U.S. attorney’s office says they’ve arrested 13 Rochester residents and three men from Philadelphia. A 14th suspect who had remained at large turned himself in Wednesday.

Officials say they used search warrants last month to seize nearly 23,000 decks of heroin and more than $93,000 in cash along with nine firearms.

Prosecutors say Rochester police and several federal law enforcement agencies began an investigation in October into a Philadelphia drug ring that was bringing heroin to upstate New York.

Officials say proceeds from the drug sales climbed into the hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last several months. The heroin seized during the bust exceeds the total heroin seizures made in Rochester in all of 2015.
