PLACENTIA, Calif. (AP) - The finance services manager of Placentia has been charged with embezzling $4.3 million.

City News Service says Michael Nguyen (Win) was arrested Wednesday night on a warrant charging him with 17 counts of misappropriating public funds from the Orange County city.

Prosecutors say Nguyen, who was hired in 2008, made wire transfers from city coffers to personal and other accounts.

It’s not immediately clear whether Nguyen has a lawyer. The 34-year-old Irvine appeared in court Thursday but his arraignment was postponed to May.

If convicted, he could face up to 29 years in prison.
