PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in March, unchanged from the previous month.
That level is the lowest since August 2007.
The state Department of Labor and Training on Thursday said the rate fell nine-tenths of a percentage point from March 2015, when the rate was 6.3 percent.
Rhode Island’s unemployment rate is four-tenths of a percentage point above the national rate of 5 percent.
The number of Rhode Island-based jobs grew 2,700 from February, and the number of employed residents grew by 600.
