HALTOM CITY, Texas (AP) - A North Texas woman charged with injury to a child by omission in the fatal scalding of her 2-year-old grandson has been arrested in southwestern Texas.

Police had been looking for 43-year-old Patricia Flores of Haltom City after the death of her grandson Lyfe Flores. Investigators say he had gone without medical attention for six days after he was scalded March 24 by hot bath water. Haltom City police Detective Matt Spillane says the lack of medical treatment led to an infection that led to his death at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas on April 4.

Flores turned herself in to the Frio County Sheriff’s Office in Pearsall on Thursday morning. She is jailed with bond set at $75,000 while awaiting return to Tarrant County.
