SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Three high school seniors in San Antonio will face criminal mischief charges after a fiberglass bull of the school mascot was cut off at the ankles and left on a sports field.

North East Independent School District officials say the individuals seen on security video removing the statue will face misdemeanor charges plus unspecified school discipline.

Principal Pete Martinez says the apparent senior prank, allegedly involving MacArthur High School boys, was vandalism. Repairs could cost up to $1,000.

District spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor administrators arrived on campus Tuesday to find the Brahma bull statue missing from its stand in the courtyard.

Chancellor says the culprits apparently tried putting the statue into a vehicle, it wouldn’t fit, so the bull was left on a softball field.

A tip led to the suspects.
