KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - An art gala is planned as a benefit for the two survivors of the mass shooting in Kalamazoo.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1SbXyPA ) Friday vintage dolls is the theme of Monday’s Photography Art Gala Fundraiser at the Girl Scouts Building in Kalamazoo. Proceeds will go to 14-year-old Abigail Kopf and 25-year-old Tiana Carruthers, who are recovering from severe injuries stemming from the Feb. 20 rampage that left six people dead.

Valerie Ott says she assembles a group of high school students annually to photograph and make them “feel beautiful inside and out.” Ott says the event benefits the community and she “can think of no one better to exemplify” the community’s strength than the survivors.

Jason Dalton was charged with murder and attempted murder, and ordered to undergo a competency exam.
