NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Federal forest authorities say Friday is opening day for more than 400 miles of designated trails in the Wayne National Forest.

They include horse, mountain bike and motorized vehicle trails in southeastern Ohio. Forest officials say motorized trail riding is allowed on 148 miles of the forest’s trails. Vehicles can’t be more than 50 inches in width.

Wayne National Forest says trail permits are required and available online and through vendors. More than 9,000 were sold in 2015.
