SOMERVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors are asking a New Jersey judge to reconsider his sentence against a former New York Giants Super Bowl champion’s son who was convicted in an assault-by-auto case.

Somerset County prosecutors filed a motion Thursday saying that the victim is upset with 24-year-old Clint Benson’s sentence. He won’t face prison time as long as he meets the condition of his bail.

Benson pleaded guilty to assault by auto, drunken driving and other charges in the case. Prosecutors say the Hillsborough man hit a man from behind with his pickup truck 2013 and fled the scene. The victim suffered a fractured skull, bruised lungs and other injuries.

A hearing is set for April 29.

Benson is the son of Brad Benson, an offensive lineman on the Giants’ 1987 Super Bowl team.
