MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Longtime Minot State University athletic director Rick Hedberg is resigning to accept another position at the school.

Hedberg will become vice president for advancement, after serving as athletic director the past 15 years. During his tenure, Hedberg helped guide MSU through its transition from NAIA competition to NCAA Division II.

He will begin his new duties on June 1. The university is launching a national search for his successor immediately.

Hedberg is a 1988 graduate of MSU. He was a three-time all-conference basketball player for the Beavers, ranks third on the school’s all-time scoring list and was inducted into the MSU hall of fame in 1997.
