RYE, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire police chief is trying to suspend group lessons on surfing and paddle boarding and exercise classes on a town’s beaches during the Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day holiday weekends.
The Portsmouth Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1V6DeF5 ) that Chief Kevin Walsh asked the Rye Board of Selectmen earlier this week to ban group lessons and camps on the town’s beaches during those weekends because they’ll be “packed.”
Walsh says people would still be able to rent surf and paddle boards.
The selectmen are considering his request.
Three businesses that rent boards and offer group lessons and camps have had their permits renewed.
