PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police are trying to figure out who fatally shot an 83-year-old woman in her home in the city’s Germantown section.

Police tells WPVI-TV (https://6abc.cm/1SG7TlY ) the woman was found with two gunshot wounds to the chest about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. She died a short time later at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Friends and relatives say the woman cared for her husband who is in his 90s and has Alzheimer’s disease. They say she regularly worked out at the local YMCA, was active in church, and helpful to her neighbors.

Police say they’ve found a weapon and consider the woman’s death suspicious.

The woman’s family says he has six children and was also a grandmother and great-grandmother.
