MILTON, Mass. (AP) - State police say charges are not warranted against the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed an 18-year-old Milton High School senior last month.
Police announced on Friday that the 44-year-old off-duty Boston police sergeant who struck Katelisa Etienne as she walked across a street on March 9 was not impaired, was not using his cellphone and was not speeding.
Witnesses also told police that Etienne entered the road from behind a parked vehicle and was mostly obscured from the view of motorists.
A mechanical inspection of the Jeep Wrangler also was conducted.
Family members say Etienne was on her way to a church where she worked with children in an after-school program.
