SALEM, Mass. (AP) - The suspect in a fatal shooting in Salem last month has been apprehended in Florida.

Massachusetts authorities say 19-year-old Xavier Collazo, of Boston, was taken into custody in Jacksonville earlier this week. He’s being held without bail as a fugitive from justice until he can be returned to Massachusetts.

The Essex district attorney’s office tells The Salem News (https://bit.ly/1SeY8y9 ) that Collazo faces a first-degree murder charge and gun charges in connection with the March 31 shooting death of 27-year-old Benjamin Magee, who was found in an alleyway outside a home.

Police said the men were involved in some sort of altercation, but have not disclosed the motive.

Prosecutors say Collazo was out on bail in an unrelated Boston firearms case at the time of the fatal shooting.
