DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A southwest Ohio man convicted of fatally stabbing his mother has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The Montgomery County prosecutor says 44-year-old Jamie G. Tuck could have been sentenced Friday to the death penalty.
A three-judge panel this month found Tuck guilty of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault and kidnapping in his mother’s slaying.
Authorities say a family member checking on 66-year-old Marilyn Burns after she didn’t show up for work June 9 found her dead in her basement.
The prosecutor’s statement say Tuck had served prison time and his mother had given him a place to stay before he cut and stabbed her.
A message seeking comment on Tuck’s behalf was left at his attorney’s office Friday.
