CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A November trial date has been set for a Casper man charged with fatally stabbing his roommate last summer.
Natrona County District Judge Catherine Wilking scheduled a five- to seven-day trial for Don Johns to start on Nov. 14. Johns is charged with first-degree murder in the August 2015 death of 49-year-old Donald Wickersham.
Johns pleaded not guilty on March 24. He has until Nov. 11 to enter into a plea agreement. He remains jailed with his bail set at $1 million.
Authorities say Johns surrendered to authorities the day after Wickersham was stabbed 20 times in an apartment they shared. Johns’ attorneys say he was acting his self-defense.
