ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Five juveniles face charges after they allegedly robbed a man on an Atlantic City street.

Authorities say officer Joseph Bereheiko was on patrol in the unit south block of Morris Avenue when several males sprinted by him around 2:45 a.m. Saturday. He then saw a man running toward him saying he had been robbed.

Bereheiko chased after the youths and soon detained them on a nearby street.

The victim, a 25-year-old city resident, then arrived on the scene and identified the youths as his assailants. He said they knocked him to the ground and punched and kicked him as they tried to steal his wallet and cell phone.

The youths were all charged with robbery and conspiracy.

The man was treated at a hospital for injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
