PHOENIX (AP) - Police say a man struck in an early morning collision while riding his bicycle has died.

Police spokesman James Holmes says the 51-year-old man died Saturday after being taken to a hospital in critical condition.

According to investigators, the victim was riding in the area of 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 3:20 a.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck.

Witnesses say the driver fled the area.

Holmes says the victim’s identity is not being released due to concerns of family members.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black or dark blue GMC Sierra pickup with 20 to 24-inch chrome rims.

Police say there would be damage on the left front side with a left headlight missing.
