CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee courthouse skirmish has resulted in an investigation into whether a Bradley County corrections officer used excessive force.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press (bit.ly/1TqQNO8) reports that 10th Judicial District Attorney General Stephen Crump has asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to look into the scuffle that erupted Thursday between an inmate and a corrections officer.

Crump says the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office asked him to take the matter to the TBI. He released few details about the incident.

The sheriff’s office says the corrections officer involved has been suspended and will remain on suspension until the investigation is complete. It says the officer has been with the department for a number of years.

His name was not released and neither was that of the inmate.
