MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in a wooded area behind a shuttered store in Middle Island.
Suffolk County police say a dog walker found the man’s body around 3 p.m. on Saturday.
They say the man’s body was discovered in a wooded area behind a shuttered Kmart store on Middle Country Road. The property has remained vacant since the store closed almost a decade ago.
Police say the man’s death is considered a homicide, but would not say how he died.
It wasn’t immediately clear how long the body had been in the woods before it was discovered.
