SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a local Utah singer and concert promoter.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1PNZ5sL) that 21-year-old Quincy Earl Lawson entered a plea to second-degree manslaughter earlier this week, thereby avoiding a murder charge and other counts in the killing of Bradley Hancock.

Lawson, of Magna, will be sentenced next month.

He faces up to 15 years in prison.

Authorities say the Nov. 15, 2014 shooting occurred when Lawson and the 24-year-old Hancock got in a fight in a mosh pit at a Salt Lake City night club.

Prosecutors say Lawson fired six shots at the victim.

Lawson’s attorneys argued he was acting in self-defense after Hancock threw a chunk of concrete at his head.
