COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - From discussions of prehistoric settlements to food and dancing, Native American culture is being featured at the South Carolina State Museum this weekend.

Saturday is History Day at the museum in Columbia.

The events include a discussion of the Topper site in Allendale, where artifacts from a prehistoric Native American culture have been discovered.

A member of the Cherokee Nation will discuss traditional foods eaten by tribal members and there will be live drum performances by the Edisto River Drummers.

There are also demonstrations of how Native Americans make pottery, weave baskets and do bead work for jewelry.
