SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Bexar (bayr) County sheriff’s officials say an off-duty deputy was killed when his motorcycle struck a truck that had wrecked northeast of San Antonio.
The sheriff’s office says in a statement that Richard Hammock died instantly when his motorcycle crashed into the truck early Saturday on Interstate 35 in Selma.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating his death. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Hammock was hired by the sheriff’s office in 2003. He began working in the county jail before joining the patrol division.
He had recently been assigned to the Bexar County court complex.
