RENO, Nev. (AP) - Half a dozen Department of Public Safety law enforcement officials are testing out a possible new uniform this month.

Officer Dave Gibson says the six officials in Reno, Las Vegas and Elko may interact with the public in a law enforcement capacity, but that’s not the intent while the uniforms are being tested.

A department statement says members of the public should know these six officials can enforce Nevada laws.

One element of the proposed uniform is a gray shirt with navy pocket flaps.

Officials are testing the uniforms through April 30.
