RED HILL, Pa. (AP) - State police say a man who led local police on a chase in suburban Philadelphia later died after a single-vehicle crash.

State police in Montgomery County say Marlborough Township police tried to stop an erratic driver on Route 29, but the man fled at high speed.

Township police reported terminating the pursuit but an officer later came upon the vehicle, which had crashed in the borough of Red Hill early Saturday.

State police said the officer tried to help the driver, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His name and other details weren’t immediately released.
