MILWAUKEE (AP) - Repairs are being made at the Mitchell Park Conservatory after the Milwaukee landmark commonly known as the Domes was closed earlier this year.

The Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1qnbRcT ) reports stainless steel mesh is being put into place to form a lining inside the Show Dome, which is one of the three Domes. Horticultural Services Director Sandy Folaron said the Show Dome is on schedule to reopen May 1.

The Domes were closed in February after a piece of debris fell inside one of the three structures in late January.

County Facilities Management Director Jeremy Theis said the temporary fix at the Show Dome is estimated to cost $263,000. Theis said timing for Desert and Tropical domes repairs will depend on the availability of more mesh and lifts needed to work above tall plants.
