MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets is holding free workshops next week on federal produce safety rules.

The workshops are scheduled for Monday in Burlington and Tuesday in Rutland.

The agency says the new rule affects farms that grow, harvest, pack or hold fresh produce for human consumption and that have annual produce sales of more than $25,000.

The Burlington workshop takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vermont Department of Health and Rutland workshop is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Rutland Free Library.

The agency is encouraging people to sign up ahead of time but it’s not required. To sign up, email AGR.FSMA@vermont.gov or call (802)-522-7811.
