FOX LAKE, Ill. (AP) - A former suburban Chicago wrestler headed for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will be honored at his alma mater this weekend.

Daniel Dennis is a 2005 graduate of Grant High School where he was a standout wrestler. The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1pgToh0 ) he will be honored with a Friday pep rally and Sunday morning parade.

Dennis was 153-25 during his prep wrestling career, finishing fourth in the state as a sophomore and losing state title matches in each of his junior and senior years by one point. He was a two-time All-American at the University of Iowa and finished second in the NCAA championship in 2010.

Dennis left the sport in 2013 but returned two years later after his father’s death.
