LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Police are investigating after a bicyclist was found dead in a ditch in Logan.

Capt. Curtis Hooley says a passerby found the body of 52-year-old Jeffrey Mayers on Wednesday while walking along the Logan River Trail.

Hooley says the Logan man appeared to have been riding along the trail in the early morning when he hit a curve too fast, struck a wooden structure and fell face-down in the 3-foot ditch.

Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation.
