KROTZ SPRINGS, La. (AP) - Two employees have been accused of stealing lottery tickets from a store in Krotz Springs.

KLFY-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1rnv3rT) St. Landry Parish sheriff’s deputies say 39-year-old Stephanie Bowman and 24-year-old Aireal Bowman were arrested April 20 on charges of felony theft.

Sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux says video surveillance shows the suspects removing the tickets from the store’s case and scratching off the barcode.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a statement that Stephanie Bowman admitted to stealing between 12 to 15 tickets each day for at least a month.

After taking the tickets, investigators say the suspects would use a scanner to verify the ticket had a winning amount and would then remove the cash from the register.

It isn’t clear if the women have attorneys.
