ABILENE, Texas (AP) - An 18-year-old woman charged with her 22-year-old boyfriend with murder in the death of their newborn daughter has been ruled incompetent to stand trial.

A state district judge in Abilene has ordered Amber Craker to the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon for up to four months.

Craker and Damian Cate are both charged with murder and felony evidence tampering. Craker remains in Taylor County Jail in Abilene awaiting transfer to the Vernon hospital. Cate also remains jailed awaiting trial.

Police say Craker arrived at an Abilene hospital severely bleeding. Medical personnel determined that she had just delivered a full-term baby but had not arrived with an infant. Police went to the couple’s home and found tissue remains in the sewer and an infant’s body hidden in the house.
