AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - An Amarillo man has been charged in the 2014 beating and shooting death of one of his ex-wives.

Randall County jail records show Jeremy Spielbauer was being held Thursday on a capital murder charge. Online records don’t list an attorney to speak for Spielbauer, whose bond was set at $500,000 after his arrest Wednesday.

The body of Robin Spielbauer of Amarillo was found in April 2014 in a ditch. Prosecutor James Farren says new cellphone evidence led to Jeremy Spielbauer’s indictment.

A woman married to Jeremy Spielbauer at the time of the slaying was charged with capital murder but the count was later dropped.

Prosecutors cited cellphone records in dismissing the case against Katie Spielbauer. She divorced her husband after her arrest and resumed using her maiden name, Katie Phipps.
