Deadwood Mayor Turbiville retains post by a single vote

DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) - It’s official. Deadwood Mayor Chuck Turbiville has retained his position by a single vote.

Turbiville squared off against former city commissioner Georgeann Silvernail in the April 12 municipal election. Unofficial election results had Turbiville winning the race for his second three-year term by a vote of 165 to 164.

Silvernail requested a recount, which is allowable under state law.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/22QF7Vz ) that a three-member recount board confirmed the tally on Wednesday.
