HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police are releasing the name of a highway worker hospitalized after he was hit by a pickup truck along Interstate 70 near Hagerstown.

Police said in a statement that 39-year-old Jamey Kamp was struck around 1:30 a.m. Thursday while working on guardrail installation. They say the eastbound truck had veered into the median after colliding with another vehicle while attempting a lane change in a construction zone.

Kamp works for Green Acres Contracting Co. of Scottdale, Pennsylvania. Green Acres Safety Director Doug Riley says Kamp is from Confluence, Pennsylvania.

Police say Kamp was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma unit in Baltimore.

This story has been corrected to show the name of the Pennsylvania town is Scottdale, not Scottsdale.
