SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Centenary College of Louisiana has chosen Dr. Christopher L. Holoman as its 31st president.
The Centenary College Board of Trustees announced Holoman’s appointment Thursday. Holoman, who currently serves as provost at Hilbert College in Hamburg, New York, will assume leadership of the Shreveport, Louisiana-based institution in July.
Board chairman George Nelson says Holoman is the perfect person to lead the college. He says they had several excellent candidates for the post, but Holoman’s “passionate enthusiasm for the liberal arts and his commitment to the social justice, service and intellectual traditions that tie Centenary to the Methodist church” impressed the search committee and campus community.
Holoman succeeds Dr. David Rowe, who has led Centenary since August 2009. Rowe is leaving to become president of Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, Florida.
