FOUNTAIN, Colo. (AP) - Police in Fountain have arrested a man in the death of his girlfriend’s infant daughter.

Investigators say 28-year-old Branden Harms was caring for the 4-month-old girl while the mother was away from the house for a few hours Monday. When the mother returned home, she immediately noticed her baby needed medical attention and took her to a nearby hospital.

The baby was transferred to a hospital in Denver, where she died of her injuries Tuesday.

Harms is being held on charges of first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. Booking documents do not indicate if he has hired an attorney.
