SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - One of the men facing charges for participating in the winter takeover of an Oregon national wildlife refuge has turned himself in to southern Utah police.
Iron County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Del Schlosser said Wednesday that he didn’t know if Travis Levi Cox would be transferred back to Oregon from a southern Utah jail.
The Spectrum of St. George reports (https://bit.ly/1SwrDyP ) Cox was taken into custody by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office last week.
Cox is one of 26 people federal prosecutors have charged with participating in the 41-day occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in a protest over land policy.
Messages left with Cox’s attorneys Wednesday were not immediately returned.
During a hearing in St. George last week, Cox requested he be returned to Oregon.
