PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 59-year-old man suffered broken bones and a deep cut to his head after a crew tried to demolish a trailer with him inside.

The Oakland County sheriff’s department says a crew hired by the city to remove abandoned homes in Pontiac returned Tuesday morning to the site of one demolished home to remove other structures. They did not know the man was inside the trailer.

The crew moved the trailer so it could be crushed and loaded onto a truck. As they started to demolish the trailer, they heard screaming from inside and found the man. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the man had been repeatedly told to stay away from the property.

Pontiac is about 30 miles northwest of Detroit.
