ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A man suspected of shooting at an Anchorage police officer in a patrol car has been arrested.

Police say 28-year-old Jheyson Jimenez is being held on suspicion of assault.

Police dispatchers just after 2:45 a.m. Thursday took a call of a disturbance at an apartment and officer responded to Peck Avenue off Muldoon Road.

As an officer drove by the apartment, shots were fired.

Police say shots hit the patrol car and broken glass hit an officer, who left the area and called for help. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police surrounded the apartment, blocked nearby roads and evacuated surrounding homes.

The suspect surrendered just before 10:30 a.m.
