FLINT, Mich. (AP) - One of two women found shot to death in a Flint apartment was among dozens of people who earlier filed lawsuits over lead-tainted water in the city.
The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1T1TaCo ) Thursday that Sasha Bell’s case was one of 64 lawsuits filed by law firms on behalf of 144 children.
Bell had said her child was poisoned by lead.
Flint was under state control in 2014 when it switched from Detroit’s water system to the Flint River to save money. The corrosive river water wasn’t properly treated and caused lead to leach from old pipes into homes and businesses.
Bell’s body and the body of Sacorya Reed were discovered Tuesday night at Ridgecrest Village Townhouses. An infant was found uninjured in the apartment.
A suspect has been arrested.
