ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque police have released video from the May 2015 shooting of a suspected car thief that involved 10 officers.

The lapel camera video was made available Friday.

The footage shows police firing at an SUV being driven by 20-year-old Rodrigo Garcia.

The SUV then reverses back toward police officers who fire multiple rounds.

The vehicle then stops as officers demand the suspect show his hands.

According to court documents, Garcia was struck seven times.

Police spokeswoman Celina Espinoza says Garcia remains in critical condition and appears to be brain dead.

Garcia, who has a criminal record, is accused of ramming a patrol vehicle with the stolen SUV the day before the shooting.

The 10 officers involved were put on administrative leave and have since received use-of-force training.
